Here are 4 golden rules to follow. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule 1: Your skin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Moisturize your skin for a few days beforehand. But very important: please don\u2019t apply cream on the day of your appointment\u2014we\u2019ll take care of shaving professionally on site. And avoid sunburn like the plague, because we can\u2019t tattoo on burned skin.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule 2: Your body \u2013 your powerhouse.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A tattoo puts your body to work. Make sure you\u2019re well rested. Eat a large, carb-rich meal before your appointment to keep your blood sugar stable. Bring sugary drinks (cola, juice) and snacks (glucose tablets, granola bars) to prevent circulation issues. Water is essential too.    <\/p>\n<p><strong> Rule 3: The no-gos \u2013 alcohol &#038; drugs. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Avoid alcohol and other intoxicants completely for at least 24 hours\u201448 is even better\u2014before your appointment. Alcohol thins your blood, which can lead to heavier bleeding during tattooing. That can wash out the ink and worsen the final result. It can also negatively affect healing. We don\u2019t tattoo anyone who\u2019s been drinking\u2014for your own safety.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule 4: Your comfort.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wear comfortable, loose, ideally dark clothing that won\u2019t irritate the area being tattooed and can handle a few ink splashes.
